A guest at a beachside hotel in Vlissingen, Netherlands, returned to her room to find an unexpected visitor—a grey seal resting on the floor.
The incident occurred at Pier 7, a beachfront hotel with rooms directly on the sand. According to local reports, the guest had stepped out to walk her dog but mistakenly left the door open, allowing the seal to slip inside. Upon discovering the marine intruder, she quickly contacted the hotel staff, who then reached out to the Sea Animal Rescue Team, a local animal welfare organization.
"We often get strange messages and aren't surprised so quickly, but when we received a message tonight, we couldn't believe it at first," the rescue team shared on social media.
The grey seal, while appearing "completely relaxed" at first, became irritated when disturbed by the commotion. The rescue team noted that while these animals can bite and be dangerous, they often seek quiet places to rest. After assessing the situation, the team successfully relocated the seal to a "safe, quieter place."
Reflecting on the unusual event, the rescue team remarked, "These guests' holiday became an adventure to never forget. You only experience this in our beautiful Vlissingen, right?"
